Press highlights: Abou El Enein’s meeting with Liberal Popular Alliance Bloc Italian Senator

Italian media, English and French press in Egypt and Africa, such as the Italian “la Repubblica”, the French “El-Ahram Hebdo”, “El-Ahram Weekly” in English, the French “Le Progrès Egyptien”, the French edition of the newspaper “AllAfrica” highlighted the meeting of Abou El Enein, honorary president of Euro-mediterranean Parliament and president of the Egyptian European Council, with Italian Senator Lucio Barani (Liberal Popular Alliance Bloc) and Senator Francesco Amoroso, the former president of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliament, that was broadcasted on “Sada El Balad” channel where they affirmed that the Egyptian government is not involved in the Italian student Giulio Regeni’s murder, expecting the Italian ambassador to return back to Egypt soon.

 

Italian “la Repubblica”: Lucio Barani and Francesco Amoroso’s meeting, two prominent members in the Italian Parliament, caught great media interest from the Italian “la Repubblica”, one of the most widely spread newspaper in Italy in its press issue of April 20th, where it allocated a long article under the title “Amoroso and Barani find Egypt unguilty”. The article affirmed that the meeting caught significant interest by the Egyptian media because two Italian MPs found Egypt unguilty and accused El-Sisi’s opposition of planning the accident. The newspaper mentioned that, according to the Italian MPs, Egypt has nothing to do with the accident but whoever try to delegitimize the government and destabilize the relations between the two countries are the ones responsible.

The newspaper wondered about what’s happening in other countries and the murder of the Italian girl in Geneva however Italy didn’t cut ties: did the thought of cutting ties crossed anyone’s mind I don’t think so… so why is this happening with Egypt?

El-Ahram in English:
“El-Ahram Online” in English, affiliated to “El-Ahram” paper, discussed the meeting in article titled “Two Italian Mps: The Egyptian government is not involved in Regeni’s murder” highlighting that Senator of the Liberal Popular Alliance Bloc affirmed to Abou El Enein, prominent businessman, that the Egyptian government is not involved in Regeni’s murder. Where the website mentioned the two MPs words that there is a “Dissident organization” financed from global economic powers behind the 28-years-old political researcher’s murder, targeting the Italian-Egyptian economic ties.

State Information Service in English
The State Information service published on its English website a report about the meeting broadcasted on “Sada Elbalad”, focusing in the two MPs declarations that breaking the Egyptian Italian relations is “impossible”, expecting that the Italian ambassador will return back to Egypt soon which proofs that there aren’t any vital issues between the two countries.

All Africa:
From another hand “AllAfrica” website highlighted the meeting explaining that the two MPs totally understand Egypt’s refusal to deliver phone records to the Italian side.

Le Progrès Egyptien:
While “Le Progrès Egyptien”, paper issued by El Tahrir publishing, highlighted the meeting of Abou El Enein with the Italian MPs and their discussions about Regeni’s case and his influence on converging the point of views concerning the case, and also the two MPs’ confirmation that the Egyptian government is not involved in the killing of the Italian researcher and that there are hidden hands that want to spoil the Egyptian-Italian relations confirming that the Italian ambassador will return back to Cairo soon.
