Mr. Mohamed Abou El-Enein, the Honorary President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, said the world is witnessing the largest humanitarian crisis since the end of World War II, due to the unprecedented number of refugees and migrants seeking safe haven and job opportunities. He praised Egypt’s efforts in the fight against illegal immigration, pointing out that Egypt prioritize a strategy for prosecuting illegal immigration crimes.
During his participation in the ongoing UN General Assembly meetings in New York, Mr. Abou El-Enein said that Egypt provides all the support to thwart attempts to smuggle illegal immigrants, calling on world countries to put the fight against illegal immigration a top priority.
Mr. Abou El-Enein participated in the “Immigration and Refugees” session, in which President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi delivered Egypt’s speech. He added that until the end of 2015, there were 65 million migrants in the world, including 25 million refugees outside their countries and 40 million people displaced within their own countries. Half of these refugees were children.
He called Abu eyes resolving disputes and conflicts that were the main cause of migration and asylum and strengthen the countries that Tharbalarhab because the spread has led to increasing migration and asylum, and to establish a global agreement to regulate the safe migration.
