The Upper Egypt Association honored businessman Mohamed Abou El- Enein, the Honorary President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean and the President of the Egyptian-European Business Council, by giving him the shield of the Association.
“We are honored to honor businessman Mohamed Abou Al-Enein after winning the African Union Award as the “Best Maker in Africa”, said journalist Mahmoud Bakri, during the Iftar banquet at the Arab Contractors Club. He added that Abou Al-Enein honored Egypt with his products with the slogan “Made in Egypt”, which raise the name of the nation high. He also added that Abou Al-Enein is the first Egyptian to receive this high-profile award and he was selected by the African Union from all the companies of 55 African countries.
Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashim thanked businessman Mohamed Abou El-Enein for his great role in raising the name of Egypt at the local and international levels, after being selected as the “Best Maker in Africa”.
During his speech at the Iftar banquet, Hashem pointed out that “Abou Al-Enein” is a man worthy of appreciation. He expressed his happiness with this gathering, which helped him to meet such figures who raise the name of Egypt all over the world.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of state symbols, ministers, governors, MPs, businessmen and a number of dignitaries, headed by Eng. Ibrahim Mehleb, Assistant to the President of the Republic for National Projects, Advisor Omar Marwan, Minister of House Affairs, Major General Adel Labib, Former Minister of Local Development, Major General Mansour Issawi, former Minister of Interior, Major General Ahmad Abdullah, Governor of the Red Sea, Major General Sayed Nasr, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, MP Mustafa Bakri, Suleiman Wahdan, Undersecretary of the House of Representatives, Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashim, MP Salah Abdallah, the spokesman for the House of Representatives and MP Mohammad El-Husseini, Undersecretary of the Local Administration Committee, in addition to a large number of MPs, governors and former ministers.
It is worth mentioning that the African Union chose Mohamed Abou El Enein, Chairman of Ceramica Cleopatra Group, to win the Best Maker Award in Africa.
This came at the 10th African Union Forum for the Private Sector held in the presence of Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Administrative Reform, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Victor Harrison, Commissioner of Economic Affairs of the African Union (AU), handed over Abou El-Enein the union’s shield at a large ceremony attended by a large number of African business men and women.
This is the first time that an Egyptian manufacturer has won this prestigious award awarded to Cleopatra Group, which was selected from companies of 55 African countries.
The African Union stated that Abou Al-Enein’s experience in the industry and the reconstruction of the desert reflects the true spirit of the award and its lofty objectives. It pointed out that Abou Al-Enein succeeded in settling a modern industry in Africa instead of relying on imports and creating an Egyptian industrial name in the ceramic, porcelain and sanitary ware industry.

It added that Cleopatra’s success was based on the development of its technologies, the creation of its designs, the excellence of its products and its adherence to its values towards customers, workers, society and the environment.
The African Union pointed out that the experience of Mohamed Abou El-Enein during the past 40 years is a model for what we want to be the private sector in Africa. It pointed out that Abou El-Enein is one of the pioneers of desert reconstruction in Egypt, model farms, tourist destinations, advanced technological and real estate projects, economic development, community development, employment creation, employment rehabilitation, food security, technology localization, the creation of added value of local raw materials and the opening up of new markets to Egyptian products.
African Union Commissioner for Economic Affairs, Victor Harrison, affirmed his happiness with the presence of international industries in Egypt. He pointed out that the African Union is aware of the global position reached by the Cleopatra Group, adding that Abou El-Enein’s experience in investment and industry is a role model for the African private sector, calling on the Egyptian private sector to invest in Africa because Africa is a future great market, praising the economic reforms that are taking place in Egypt and the success of President El-Sisi in putting Egypt on the road to economic start.

In a related context, Dr. Amani Asfour, President of the COMESA Business Council, congratulated Egypt on the victory of the great industrialist Mohamed Abou El-Enein as the best maker in the African continent, pointing out that he has given a proud image to Egypt and Africa and contributed in opening up many markets to Egyptian products. She added that Ceramica Cleopatra Group’s experience represents a symbol of Africa’s manufacturing, high value added of its raw materials and the invasion of global markets with its industrial products.
She pointed out that this award is granted only to companies that invest heavily in research, development and innovation, in deepening the industry, relying on African raw materials, managing the minds and arms of the people of the continent, helping the surrounding communities, creating many jobs.

Abou El-Enein explained his experience in the field of industry and reconstruction of the desert, which he began in 1979 by invading the 10th of Ramadan Desert and establishing the first Cleopatra Group factories there. It was the first modern ceramic factory in Egypt and the Middle East.
The group then became number one in the Middle East and one of the top 4 groups in the world. Its products reached all world countries, including Japan, the most difficult market in the world.
